Being Impeccable with the Words You Speak

I was recently chatting with some other similar-minded, soul-inspired women and something we talked about really stuck with me - Be impeccable with your word.

The phrase comes from Don Miguel Ruiz and is one of his Four Agreements to live by. The others are:

Don't take anything personally

Don't make assumptions

Always do your best.

For some reason, the first agreement, Be impeccable with your word stayed with me at the forefront of my mind. As a writer, as a person just living life as best I can, my word is everything. I've really come back to centre with this. I've reevaluated the way I communicate with the world. I've become more intentional with the words I speak, with the words I type out next to that blinking cursor. I've made a promise with myself not to say things to fill space or please others. Instead, I try to say things that mean something, that hold weight, that bring myself ease and joy. That brings others that same joy. Because words, big or small, hold power.

Be impeccable with your word.
